Right now, there are only a few that can be called drone billionares. However, that might change in a few years with the growth of the drone industry becoming unstoppable.
For those who aren’t in the know, the International Drone Expo or IDE and Drone Business conference is the gathering of global commercial drone interests right now. For their second run, they are announcing the IDE 2015 Drone Pitchfest which is basically an excellent chance aimed at drone entrepreneurs to earn funding.
The way this will work is for the participants to gather in front of venture capitalists that are the most influential in the drone market to pitch thir ideas. The winner will receive $150,000.
As for he event itself, it will composed of experts in the field who will then share their knowledge and insight regarding drone technology and the drone market. The 2-day IDE will take place in the Los Angeles Convention Center on December 11.
The IDE will be presented by a host of companies included DJI, Aerial Media Pros, Multicopter Warehouse as well as DroneFly. The special event will include submission in the drone hardware category, as well as the software and service maintenance categories.
The ones that will be judging the participants include Qualcomm Ventures, AECOM, Wharton Alumni Angel Network, LightSpeed Accelerator, Starbright Accelerator and finally, AirMap.io.
Co-founder and CEO of UAVSA Keith Kaplan says, “As with all new business sectors, venture capital and early stage investors are hedging their bets to see who will emerge as the clear commercial drone leader and the first to be listed on a major index. Drones are one of the hottest early-stage investment segments since the Internet boom. IDE’s 2015 Drone Pitchfest may decide who will be the next drone billionaire.”
Some of the topics that will be covered during the IDE will include such lineups as The New Drone Economy – An Overview of a Global Movement. For the others, we have Drones and the Future of Aerospace, Aerial Sensors and Big Data, Cinematography and Creative Applications, The Future of Education and Jobs in Unmanned Aircraft Systems, Early registration for IDE 2015 is available now for the business conference for $295, and the expo for $25.
The Unmanned Autonomous Vehicle Systems Association or UAVSA started the IDE. The UAVSA is focused solely on the consumer who want to go pro. This time around, they will be partners with E.J. Krause & Associates in the hosting of the IDE 2015 since they are internationally renowned for managing conferences that involve the introduction and showcasing of new technology.
